SGPC objects to Gurbani verses on floor tiles at Germany ashram

HT Correspondent, Hindustan Times, Amritsar| Updated: Aug 12, 2015 22:08 IST

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has raised objections to Gurbani verses being inscribed on marble tiles at a yoga ashram being run by an Indian-origin person in Germany's Hamburg.

SGPC additional secretary Daljit Singh Bedi said it would have been okay had the tiles (with Gurbani verses) been plastered on the walls of the ashram. "Unfortunately, these were used for flooring and on steps leading to the ashram," said Bedi citing reports coming from Hamburg.

"This amounts to trampling on Gurbani verses, something which no Sikh will tolerate. The ashram owner, Satya Singh, has shown total disrespect and disregard for Gurbani and this has hurt our sentiments," said Bedi.

He further said SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar has asked the ashram owner to remove these tiles or else the religious body will seek legal recourse. Makkar intends to bring this matter to the notice of Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

This just hurts so bad. How could they be so dumb???

This is a perfect example of how poorly Bhajanists understand Sikhi, yet they call themselves Sikhs. Seems like they are getting worse every day. In the 70's and 80's we had people who loved the Guru, treasured Gurbani and knew better than to put it on the floor. Don't they have anyone like that anymore?

Upon being informed that walking on Gurbani is a horrific insult to the Guru, will they correct their mistake right away? Or will they refuse any correction by Sikhs who aren't Bhajanists? After all, Bhajan spent a lot of time indoctrinating his followers that Indian Sikhs weren't to be trusted because they didn't understand "real" Sikhism as he did.

Shouldn't SDI order the ashram to remove the Gurbani from their floor? Oh snap! I just remembered who their "Chief of Protocol" is! Does anyone think he'll step away from his self-aggrandizing long enough to order the ashram to fix it?

Is this the first time the SGPC has ever tried to "correct" a Bhajanist? I think it is.

That's surprising since he was allegedly given the title Sri Singh Sahib by the RSS-controlled SGPC (which was originally put into place by the British Raj). I thought "sahib" was for gurus. The National Professor of Sikhism even went so far to call him the "Guru of the West." Gurbani floor tiles are a blatant disregard for the true GurSikhi.

The 3HO sect has a lot of commonalities with Spiritual Satanism, an Aryan attempt to revive the original Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism).

How many converts do we have to the True Sikhi? How many *real* gora Sikhs do you know? All are 3HO Sikhs. How many born Sikhs know Sikhi? You call yourselves Sikhs, but your Mata Tek is an empty ritual (forgive me for saying so, Khalsa ji), which is forbidden in Sikhi!

Just look for yourselves. You know the story of our founding. You know the stories of our Gurus and saints and shaheedis. You say ardaas. But who knows what happened after that? Who knows how we changed from that... to this?

We had a Sikh Raj. British corporation (East India Trading) overthrew the Sikh nation for profit. We fought on both sides in WWII. We were some of the last defending Berlin. In 1947, the Sikhs chose to merge with India because the British wanted to force us to have democracy. And ever since then, Hindustan had genocided the Sikhs. They organised the 1984 "riots," and concentrated our populations in the Gurdwaras so we could be exterminated. Your native tongue has been replaced with Hindi and your religion has been infiltrated by corporatists who celebrate the Yogi Harbhajan Tea Company. On both sides--East and West--you know only a whitewashed version of history where the heroes always win and never do anything wrong.

We've allowed sikhi to become like this. We've let ourselves be domesticated. We've let sikhi become something that's not *ours.* We've let sikhi fracture into different "kinds." We must then ask ourselves, "What kind are we?"

We call ourselves Sikhs, so let's make Sikhi ours. Free All Takht and support referendum 2020 for Sikh independence, so we can reunite all Sikhs and again have just Ikh Sikhi.
